Proper Golf Etiquette during the Game

Golf is a sophisticated sport. It comes with many unwritten rules you should consider if you want to play the game and have people respect you on the course. You don’t want to upset any of the other golfers because you come across as rude or disrespectful. It is important to learn the proper rules of golf etiquette.

When you are on a golf course it is important to go by the rules posted. Be sure to read the rules if you are unfamiliar with the course. If you are driving a golf cart it is very important to follow the signs. Some courses have cart paths designated for golf carts. You should never drive your golf cart on the greens of a course or near any hazards. This is common sense for golfers. There is also a 90 degree rule you should learn too. Not following rules is worse than burning candles to some golfers.

Golfers also expect certain things from you when you are on the golf course. These things are considered to be the right thing to do. Although, no one may ever come out and tell you if you do not do them, you may be frowned upon for it later. When you are golfing you should always repair the divots you create. If you and your friends are on a green and create a lot of divots, be sure to repair them before you move onto the next hole. Some golfers will get so stressed out about you not fixing divots, even reed diffusers cannot help calm them down. You should also repair ball marks on the green and rake the sand traps if you have left your footprints and your ball marks.

When other golfers are about to swing you should never talk. This is very important because it can really make another golfer angry. You should also never yell anything out after a shot. If you are golfing with friends who are obnoxious as you and they are loud and don’t mind, it is still improper. After a shot you shouldn’t yell anything. Try and maintain a good level of noise when you golf because some people come to the course for a peaceful day of golf. An obnoxious person on the course is usually frowned upon significantly.

When another player is putting it is very important to never walk across their putting line. Footprints have the tendency to change the path of the ball because they leave marks in the green and indentions. This may cause a player to miss the shot significantly. If you need to walk somewhere on the green always go around the person about to putt.

If you have won the Green Card Lottery and you want to play a game of golf in one of the many fine golf courses that the United States has to offer it is important to learn proper etiquette on the golf course. These rules are unwritten but they are taken very seriously by the golfing enthusiasts and communities. There are many rules of etiquette you should learn before you play a game of golf.
